Terms & Disclosures
This is an art project
ENTITY is a work of art with blockchain infrastructure underneath it. The Classification vocabulary, the field records, the Living Records and the Material Houses are original fiction. Nothing on this site is investment advice, financial advice, or a recommendation to buy anything.
What a record is
An ERC-721 token whose id maps permanently to one archive record. It is not a share, not a security, not a claim on revenue, and not an entitlement to anything beyond the token itself and the mechanisms described on this site.
Rewards are not returns
A Material House pays out what somebody has put into it, split by weight, and nothing else. When a House is empty it pays nothing. No reward is promised, guaranteed, scheduled or characterised as a dividend, a yield, interest, or a return on investment.
Funding a House is one way. There is no withdraw function: once an asset enters a House it is owed to whoever is placed there, and no key recovers it. That is a deliberate property and it cuts both ways: it protects holders from the funder, and it means a mistaken deposit cannot be undone.
Reward assets are separate ERC-20 tokens. Where a reward asset is a tokenized equity, its availability, transferability and regulatory treatment are properties of that asset and not of this project, and they vary by jurisdiction. Legal review of that question is a blocking item on the production checklist and has not been completed.
Administrative powers, in full
Every power the archive retains, stated rather than discovered:
- Curator may open and close mint phases, set prices and per-wallet caps, manage the allowlist, pause minting, and set the base URI until metadata is frozen. It may also advance a Living Record directly, including skipping levels, which emits its own distinct event and requires a written reason.
- Treasurer may move the withdrawal recipient and change the royalty terms, up to a hard 10% cap in bytecode.
- Steward may open and close Houses and pause the vault. A pause stops new placements and new funding; it does not trap a claim or a withdrawal.
- Nobody can raise the maximum supply, mint beyond it, mint beyond the curator reserve fixed at construction, lower a Living Record, withdraw from a House, change metadata once frozen, or take a marketplace fee above 5%. Those are bytecode limits, not policies.
- The floor contract has no owner, no pause and no withdraw, and never holds a record or a payment.
Rights in the source material
Each record names a historical object and the institution holding it. Rights in the underlying work and rights in the digital reproduction are different questions, and the archive tracks them separately and publishes the status per record at provenance and rights. A record whose rights position has not been verified by a person is blocked from mint metadata.
The images currently served are original procedural stand-ins rather than reproductions. No historical image is bundled with this project.
Risk
Smart contracts can contain faults. These have a test suite and have not been audited; passing tests is not evidence of security and this site does not claim it is. Digital assets can lose all of their value. Transactions are irreversible. A network can become unavailable, and a chain can be reorganised.
Current status
This archive is pointed at Anvil (local) (chain id 4663) and is not live. Production deployment is disabled until the production checklist is signed off, and nothing on this site can enable it.
