Written for this project in response to the historical record below. It is not a historical claim and is never presented as one.
The ten labelled rings are conventional and, for 1798, broadly correct. The eleventh is drawn outside them in an ink that has aged to a different brown, and it carries no name, no period and no symbol. It is not a correction: nothing is crossed out. It is not decoration: it is ruled with the same compass. Somebody added an orbit to a finished chart and declined to say what was in it. The archive files that decision as the Entity.

Cosmological charts of this period sit on a spectrum from observational astronomy to systems of correspondence sold as astronomy, and a single plate can occupy both ends of it. The ten inner rings here are the former. The eleventh is not classifiable at all, which is exactly why the record says so.
