Written for this project in response to the historical record below. It is not a historical claim and is never presented as one.
The isobars are real isobars, traced from a synoptic chart of a specific week. Somebody laid a weather map over an arm and found the fit convincing enough to publish. What survives is not a discovery but a resemblance, taken seriously by an intelligent person who had every reason to want it to be true. The Entity recovered here is the resemblance itself, which has been living quietly inside medicine ever since and still comes up whenever a joint aches before rain.

Late-century medicine took barometric influence on pain seriously and investigated it properly. The investigation continues, inconclusively, to the present day. The failure recorded here is not the hypothesis; it is the illustration, which presents a proposed correspondence in the visual grammar of settled anatomy.
